Today, we are learning how to express possession as well as numbers and time.
[Noun] の [Noun]
“の” is a particle that connects two nouns to show possession.
For example,
Aiko-san’s bag
あいこさん の バッグ
My bag
わたし の バッグ
His bag
かれ の バッグ
Her bag
かのじょ の バッグ
However, “の” has more functions than just this. It can be used to describe nouns with other nouns.
For example,
A college professor
だいがく の せんせい
A college in Japan.
にほん の だいがく
It can get more complicated, like in the example below.
A Japanese Bank in America.
アメリカ の にほん の ぎんこう

数（かず）Number
Counting in Japanese is relatively easy. Once you know the numbers 1-10, you can count all the way up to 99. For example, to say 15, you just combine the numbers 10 + 5, and to say 35, you combine 3 + 10 + 5.

In Japanese, to say the time, you simply say the number and add the word 時（じ）.

The word for minute is 分（ふん）. Just like hours, you add the word for minute to the end of the minute numbers when telling time. Pronunciation of this kanji changes quite a bit depending on which number comes before it.
