その１：英語が下手
(1) Not a great English speaker.
英語が上手な先生はいくらでもいるでしょう。
I know there are many Japanese teachers who speak perfect English.
花子はお世辞にも英語が上手とは言えません。
I can’t say that my English is perfect.
しかし、日本語はパーフェクトです！！！
However, my Japanese is perfect!!!
英語が上手でも、日本語が下手だったら、意味なくないですか？
Even if a Japanese teacher’s English is perfect, isn’t there no point if their Japanese is not as good?
何と言っても、日本の大学で、日本文学を4年勉強した日本人ですから！
Through and through, I am a native Japanese speaker who studied Japanese literature in a university in Japan!
日本の日本語学校で、英語を話せる日本語の先生はほとんどいません。私の英語でもに役に立っています。
Most Japanese teachers at Japanese language schools in Japan are not able to speak English.
My English will help a lot.

その２：若くて可愛いユーチューバーではない。
(2) Hanako is not a young and cute YouTuber.
若くて可愛い、日本語を教えている日本人ユーチューバーはたくさんいます。
There are many young and cute Japanese YouTubers who teach Japanese.
花子はお世辞にも、若くも可愛くもありません。
Hanako is neither young nor cute.
しかし！
However!
経験豊富です！
I have a lot of experience!
日本でトップ３の銀行で15年クレジットアナリストとして働きました。
I have worked at Japan’s top three banks for fifteen years as a credit analyst.
私が働いたロスアンゼルス支店の上司は、全員トップの銀行のトップの役員です。
My bosses at the Los Angeles branches where I worked were top executives at top banks.
もちろん、日本のビジネスマナーや敬語も知っています。
Of course I know about Japanese business manners and keigo (polite Japanese).
その３：日本語を学ぶ苦労を知っている。
(3) I know how hard it is to master Japanese.
アメリカでバイリンガルの娘を育てました。
I raised a bilingual daughter.
彼女は今アメリカで大学生で、日本語、英語のバイリンガルです。
She currently attends university in America and is bilingual in Japanese and English.
毎週土曜日には日本語学校に行っていたので、15年間、彼女の宿題を手伝ってきました。
She attended Japanese school every Saturday for fifteen years, and I have helped her with her homework.
どんな風に勉強しているのか、知っています。
I know how they study Japanese.
どうすれば、スピーチコンテストに勝てるのか、知っています。
I know how to win Japanese speech contests.
また、義理の弟はスペイン人です。
Furthermore, my brother-in-law is from Spain.
彼に日本語を教えて、今では彼は日本の会社でエンジニアとして働いています。
I have taught him Japanese, and now he works at a Japanese company as an engineer.
会社には英語かスペイン語を話せる日本人は一人もいません。
No one at his company speaks English or Spanish.
メールは全て、ビジネス日本語です。
All e-mails are written in formal business Japanese.
彼の苦労も知っています。
I know how hard it is to work at a Japanese company.
私はそんな日本に住む外国人を応援したいです。
I hope to support non-Japanese who reside in Japan.
そして、日本人にあなたたちを決して、”外人”とは呼ばせない！
Then, I would never let Japanese people call you “Gaijin”!
そういう使命を持って、教えています。

はじめまして！はなこです！
Nice to meet you! I am Hanako!
私は、日本語ネイティブの日本人で、アメリカでバイリンガルの娘を育てました。
I’m a native Japanese speaker who has raised a bilingual child in the United States.
実は、娘とは長い間、「ロストイントランスレーション」でした。
Actually, the conversations between my daughter and me have been “Lost in Translation”.
私が英語が話せず、娘が日本語が話せなかったので、細かい話ができなかったのです。
I couldn’t speak English well, and my daughter wasn’t able to speak Japanese well, it was difficult to communicate at times.
日本国外では、いくら子供でもちゃんと日本語の文法を勉強しなければ話せるようにならないことを知りました。
I realized that outside Japan, even children must actively study Japanese grammar to be able to speak the language.
それから娘にきちんと日本語を教えて、今では流暢な日本語を話します。娘はもう大学生で、サンフランシスコで楽しく勉強して（友達と遊んで）います。
From then on, I decided to teach her Japanese. She now speaks Japanese fluently. Now that she is a college student, she is enjoying herself studying (and hanging out with friends) in San Francisco.
また、私の義理の弟はスペイン人のダニエルです。妹の旦那さんですが、子供たち３人と日本で暮らしています。
Also, Daniel is my Spanish brother-in-law. He is my younger sister’s husband. They live in Japan with their three kids.
子供たちはスペイン語も日本語も話せるのに、お父さんのダニエルだけが日本語が話せず、色々と困ることが多かったです。
While their children could speak both Japanese and Spanish, it frustrated Daniel that he was the only one who didn’t know Japanese.
私のユーチューブチャンネルは、ダニエルとの日本語レッスンをスペインにいるダニエルの家族に見せるために始めました。
I originally created my YouTube channel to show Daniel’s family in Spain how I was teaching him Japanese.
お母さんが日本人でも、奥さんが日本人でも、日本語はちゃんと勉強しないと話せるようになりません。
Even if your mom is Japanese, or even if your wife is Japanese, if you don’t study Japanese you will not be able to speak it.
そして、私は日本語を勉強しているのになかなか出来るようにならない、という人を助けたいと思って日本語を教えています。
And so I am teaching Japanese because I would like to help those who may be struggling in their studies.
私はファイナンスの仕事をしていますが、日本文学の学士号を持っています。
Though my profession is finance, I have a BA in Japanese literature.
私は、日本語が大好きです。日本の文化も大好きです。
I love Japanese language and Japanese culture.
一人でも多くの人に、日本語の勉強をしてほしいです。
I would like that many people study Japanese.
そして、みなさんの日本語習得のお手伝いを少しでもできたらいいな、と思っています。
I would also like to help them on their journey, even just a little.
日本語を習得するには、以下のことが必要です。
